Finally, something new (4k with g sync) and very useful!

Monitors are getting exciting. Not only are higher resolution panels becoming more of the norm, but the combination of different panel dimensions and feature sets means that buying the monitor you need for the next 10 years is getting more difficult. Today Acer adds some spice to the mix by announcing pre-orders for the XB280HK – a 28-inch TN monitor with 3840x2160 resolution that also supports NVIDIA’s G-Sync to reduce tearing and stuttering.
$800 is a little steep since the samsung is around $500-600 but if any monitor needs the frame synchronization, 4k does!

This, the new 970 in SLI with a 5820k/ddr4 combo would be an ideal enthusiast/bang for the buck system. :)

Interesting. Does seem kind of pricey but then again it's 4k topped with g sync so it's not really expensive in the end. Price seems reasonable to me.

The Samsung is $599 at neweegg currently but it come with a free 250GB EVO SSD.

Very interesting. Premium for g-sync is too high though. Hoping for a 4k, ~30", with g-sync for $600-$700.

Weren't the previous 4k 28" ones $700? Not too bad of a markup.

Makes for an interesting choice between this and the Swift, though.

No, there are a few $600 models, the samsung is regularly on sale or bundled with something worth $100.

Will G-sync work in triple screen setup? I don't know if I should dream about this setup for 4k or for a 1080px3 getup.

I would love to have a ~32" 4k g-sync display with a nice quality TN panel. I was tempted by this monitor, but 28" isn't quite enough to replace my 2x27" 1440p setup. Best case would be go to a single monitor that is big enough to replace that dual monitor set up. I keep going back to getting a ROG Swift and letting 4k mature a year or so more.

Wow. Considering I paid $800 over a month ago for an Asus 27" 1440p G-sync monitor that I still haven't received, this thing seems like a great deal.

It's a new technology so the prices are going to be inflated, but I can't see why anyone would want something like this. A 4k monitor below about 32" is useless for pretty much everything but gaming.

I bought one of the 39" Seiki's a few months back and use it as my main monitor. After quite a bit of tweaking and firmware flashing it has been fantastic. The 30hz limit makes it difficult to use in gaming, so I only casually game on it (SimCity looks outstanding), but for regular computing I could never go back to something smaller or lower resolution. I thought 39" would be impractically large on my desk, but I was completely wrong. I have it connected in tandem with my older 27" 1440p monitor, and the 39" Seiki has a slightly higher DPI than the 1440p monitor. To me the DPI is pretty much perfect on the Seiki. There is no way I would want my 27" to be a 4k display, the eye strain would make it a miserable experience, and I have pretty decent eyes.

Anyone know if it has lightboost too?

Also, even though it is TN it is 8-bit like the Asus ROG Swift so I bet it will have similar quality level.

well, the acer is 60hz, so the swift should have the synced picture onscreen about 10ms quicker.

$800 for TN, no thanks

Have you ever had experience with a 4k monitor? My 590D looks by far better than my IPS/TN secondary displays have. And not just from the resolution. People are trippin if they won't get a 4k monitor with a TN display. It looks great! Trust me!

Why would anyone pay a premium for Gsync now? nVidia is going to support Async. Async for all brands or Gsync and be married to a single vendor. I don't get it?
