My friend in nj called thats staples they had 2 but for $109.00 why is that?

(so is this regional or nationwide). I just called that store to verify and the sku came up ok but price was 109

when I print out the 10 off 30 coupon from ableshoppers everything prints out except for the actual yellow coupon part. is this normal?

Yeah...the store was closing in a few minutes, and the guy I asked seemed new. He let me look over his shoulder at the terminal to see the quantity. Then he went in the back room and was talking to someone for a while. Guess the employee had pulled them from the shelf already, but since I knew there were two, he had to give one up. >>



hey buddy i went there this morning and i got the second one, the guy tried to sell me the 1 year warranty, but i didn't buy it...so thanks for telling me that there were two in stock, i don't know why they said that there were none yesterday...

The coupon didn't display properly in Netscape Navigator for me. I had to load it up in Internet Explorer to print it. You might try a different web browser if you have one available.

Good to hear. My guy tried to sell me the warranty, but my AmEx Blue already doubles the factory warranty, so there isn't much of a point.

Now I gotta find another store in town that has one so I can give one to my wife.

worked for me at about 2:00 PM MST at Staples at 101 and N 59th ave. in Phx. Employees didn't know about it, ran the SKU, said it was in stock. guy went into the back came out with it, fresh retail box. I also tried to print the 10 off 30 coupon from Netscape, no go. cut'n'paste the relevent text from the page into Word, printed it, OK. All she seemed to be interested in at the register was the number of the coupon. rang up for about 38, $10 off, w/tax out the door for about 30.

Got it up and running now, cool.

[edit] Ahhh, found the catch, it has Easy-Cd creator 4.02 with it, won't install on XP, they don't offer a solution that I can find on their site, neither does Adaptec/roxio. bummer.

In regards to Mawg's problem w/Easy CD Creator 4.02 in XP, there's supposed to be a patch via Windows Update according to PC World mag. If that doesn't work, I've heard that the newest version of Nero (5.5.5.1?) works.

Stooped in the Chapel Hill Staples. The guy at the desk took one look at the price, said "That must be a clearance item." Then he said he didn't have any or they'd be on the shelf behind him, and gave me a dirty look when I asked if he could check the computer to see if they were in stock.
Screw those low rent Staples jerks. Sometimes I feel real justified wehn they pay me to take stuff off their hands. Rebates + coupons = money in my pocket.

Picked one up on Friday in San Mateo store. There was one left on the shelf after I bought one. $30. Sweet Christmas gift for my sister who's cdrom drive died on Monday.

Went back that same afternoon looking to maybe pick the last one up for myself (replace my old scsi 4x8) but it was gone. I think the Staples guy who rang me up bought it as he did a double take at the drive after it rang up at $38 and I handed him the $10 off coupon.

OOS in Columbus, OH area.

Sunday afternoon I drove to the one closest to me. They didn't have it but their computers showed the SKU as 2 available at the Karl Rd location (1 damaged). They called the location and had them pull it for me. The numbskull pulled the wrong one, different SKU, slower and different make.

After checking the shelves no one could find any of them. Some nice talk with the manager and she agreed to sell me a 20x10x40 for $50 (half off). A little more nice talk and she let me use the $10 off coupon. $42 and change out the door. Unfortunately it's probably the slowest 20x10x40x drive with burnproof that they make, but the price sans rebate can't be beat. Actually worked to my favor that they were OOS -- thanks Anandtech effect.

Anyways, sure there are some, uh... menatally challenged, people working at Staples, but there are also some nice Staples employees who have to work with them.
