i don't think that's a surprising number.
however, i knew it was around there before this thread.
i think the population w/ at least a bachelor's in seattle is over 50%, which is really high.
it might be the highest in the country.

Because most people are lazy, fat, or both. I have a BS in EE, so I'm not with the norm.
And what website?
I dont have a college degree and make more than most who do and have no student debt. Yes, this isnt the norm, but no degree doesnt always mean being a cook on a roach coach. 😛

I always assumed it was 30%. I was close enough. The other statistics I assumed is, back in the 1970's 30% of college students were there to get a career, the other 70% were there just to learn. Now it's the opposite, 70% want a career, the other 30% are there just to learn. Rougly.
Try Midland, Michigan (Dow Chemical); Los Alamos, New Mexico (Los Alamos Labs); and Livermore, California (Sandia Labs).Originally posted by: miketheidiot
I think ann arbor wins. Tried a couple other major college towns, and nothing came close.

To me that is rather surprising. Roughly 75% of the country doesn't have a college (BA+) degree? That number is for those 25 and older as well.

I cannot be interested in what someone else tells me to be interested in according to some schedule (e.g. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:30a to 12:00p). I'm interested in whatever interests me at any given time. And when I'm not interested in something, no matter how much I apply myself, I benefit very little from the material. When I am interested, though, I can burn through a large amount of material with very high retention.
Maybe its OCD, ADD, or something, but unless I am actually interested in the material or subject matter, I quickly become mind-numbingly bored.

Break the stats down by race its pretty. Maybe the country as a whole should try to do what asian parents do to their kids.
Whites - ~29%
Blacks - ~19%
Hispanics - ~13%
Asians - ~52%

you people are fucking retarded.
our country as a whole is overeducated. people are getting degrees that have no bearing on what they do now or in the rest of their life. that's wrong.
