Hey guys,
I just set up my wireless system replacing my netgear router with a micrsoft base station(router and wireless). I loving the feel of no wires on my laptop and everything but I can no longer access my main computer shares through my laptop. When I try to open up the workgroup it tells me I don't have permission to access it. Is there any way i can get to my shares on my main desktop over wireless?

There is no difference between Wired or Wireless as far as sharing is concerned.

Could be that during the move some Network Setting changed. Go over (manually, no wizard) through the sharing.

Win98 Sharing:

AanadTech - FAQ. Networking and sharing between computers.

Win2000 Sharing:

Sharing Files/Printers between WinNT/Win2K and Win9x/ME

Networking between Windows 2000 and Windows95/98 .

Important For the purpose of the initial setting, disable all software Firewall (including WinXP native
ICF); disable any active Virus scan or any other utility that might intercept Network Traffic.

If you are not concern about internal security WinXP has a fast simple method of sharing, no user permissions and no passwords.

Windows XP Simple File Sharing

WinXP Pro has an additional more secure method:

Windows XP Professional File Sharing.

XP File Sharing Trouble

Until i got this router, on my old router, i could access the desktop via laptop using the cat5 thats pulled into the living room. No settings have changed. My problem isn't that I dont have permissions to access the desktop, its more i get a permession denied when trying to enter the workgroup that the desktop is located in. Furthermore, I onlysee "workgroup" my roomate's desktop is on another group and my laptop can't even see that group at all.
