accessing older partition

this is very strange.

i have an older 2k partition on my secondary drive. i am trying to access my user 'mike's documents and settings folder. however, when i try to open it, i get the msgbox "Access is Denied". i am currently running winxp and have administrator privs. i can access all of that other partition, even the old administrator's docs and settings folder... just not this particular mike user.

i also tried booting to that partition but i get a bluescreen which was probably the reason why i went with a new installation to begin with.

You need to take ownership of the folder. 'Mike' is the only SID that has access to that folder, and his SID no longer exists.

thanks it worked. i had simple file sharing enabled so i couldnt get to that security tab otherwise im sure i wouldve figured that out. heh

anyways, what is strange is that the owner was already the Administrators group of my current XP installation, just like all the other folders in that partition that i WAS able to access. whatever though, changing the owner to my current XP user worked. thanks
