Accessing home computer from work

Is there a good way to set up remote access to your home computer from work without having to subscribe to an external service like GoToMyPC?
Most work places these days only open http proxy (port 80/443) and most likely will capture data from whatever goes over those ports. Has any one successfully use port 80/443 proxy to create a secure data tunnel to get to your home system from work so you can access web resources etc from work and not have to deal with things being blocked or logged? (we want the secure channel so data being transmitted can't be capture and analyzed).

if works blocking it, theres a reason, bypassing it could lead to you having to do something harder than getting around there firewall....finding a job.

Putty may work, but make sure it's ok with the admins. They can get tempremental about that kind of thing. Nothing like getting fired for circumventing security...

Very well aware of corp policy regarding bypassing security and thanks for the warning. However play devil's advocate and pretend I'm the admin. I'm trying to do a proof on concept.

eh....no. If you ware an admin, maybe. But we already know that you aren't, and that you are just trying to bypass security that many of us work to implement.
