I just signed my buddy up for access4less, and noted that he could not send netzero email through access4less servers, but I imagine could still receive it.

Fairly common practice would be to make use of the SMTP server of whichever connection you are using; in this specific case, I would suggest using smtp.access4less.net as opposed to smtp.netzero.com for the outgoing mail while connected to Access4Less. As stated above, using another ISP's outgoing mail server opens up a variety of issues which most tend to avoid at all cost.

Also, I have found a number of dialup companies block access to any and all outgoing mail servers BUT theirs. Rather annoying when one has, as also described above, setup their own domain and have their own SMTP protocol active (ie, smtp.yourdomain.com). A simple way to circumvent this annoyance is adding an additional "account" in your favorite POP3 client (Outlook, Eudora, The Bat!, etc) that accomodates each SMTP server one uses under each different connection. Of course, the POP3 address will remain constant, and is always accessible regardless of how one is connected to the web.

I have my parents and some of my friends on Access4Less, they are great. The actual internet provider is screaminet.com since that is what your email address and login are once you subscribe to Access4Less.

Highly recommended at $4.95/month with no setup fee. I think you can get EVEN cheaper if you prepay 6 months or 12 months but I might be mistaken...

For the last 4 months I've had Qualguard as my IP (no monthly charge, $8.95 one-time setup fee) and netzero as my email provider. They only take signups at certain times. Looks like from their website they're accepting them now.

I use to have NZ Platinum but I got tired of paying the $9.95 per month.

Never had a minute's problem out of QG or NZ. As a backup, I have the free 10-hr. NZ, but I've never had to use it since I've had QG.

Qualguard requires you to run a monitoring device called Qagent when connected to the Internet. It has been thoroughly investigated by geeks and found not to be spyware.

Oh yeah, for those of you on dsl or broadband, QG has a $20 per month rebate if you sign up with their service. Many have posted that the plan works as advertised.

Search freedomlist for "qualguard" for more info.

Believe there may be some slight confustion. Screaminet.com (or Screaming Internet, Inc) provides service under Access4Cheap, not Access4Less.
