if you have broadband, usually (at least SBC does) they give you free (depending on provider, may be slightly limited) dial-up access across the country.

Edit: You can also now use this for free for 30 days, and then it's only $5.95/mo afterwards.

Anyone try Internet express? They used to be my DSL isp and were fine then...

http://www.ixpres.com/

The catch:

* New sign ups only. Some restrictions apply. Offer valid through April 30, 2005.
* $5.25 price applies to first three months of service, after which $8.49 price applies.
* $6.25 price applies to first three months of service after which $12.49 price applies

Tico, Where are you from? I have seen your posts a few times and have asked you the same question but you have never replied.

Take care

I used allvantage.com for about 1.5 years until I recently got broadband. Never any problems and 5.95 a month. Just a heads up.

A4L was a great ISP, never a single problem in over 2 years:( I'm thinking of giving Total Call International a try ($4.95/m unlimited access - no setup fee) but I don't see much on the reviews on Freedomlist other than the worrysome comments about their order form not using SSL! Might try allvantage based on the good feedback I've seen...

Subbaculcha-thanks for the heads up on allvantage. I signed up this afternoon for my 2 week trial. Seems like a similar altenative to access4less

I only do when on vacation, and i generally just snag a FREE month AOL disc before leaving and cancel before coming home.

people in western wa, and now new-england area can try

www.nocharge.com for free

no "dialer" needed and generic username/password

My dad was with them for a couple years, then they reduced their coverage (phone#'s) and spun-off "ncplus.net" which is ~$8/mo or so, and includes personal web-hosting and email.
My dad's been with nocharge.com/ncplus.net for many years with no problems.

Can't get much hotter than that.... if you're lucky enough to live in the few areas covered.

Wonder why I haven't received the message yet?

Anyone with Netscape experience? I've been using the a4less express for $8.95 and find the 'express' thing to be very much worth it. Supposedly Netscape includes an 'acceleration' feature in thier $9.95 price instead of an add on charge...

Looks like we have a group of people who need to "experience" broadband, because I swear you can NEVER go back. Dial up is just, omg horrible after using cable.
