Access denied to external hard drive

I had the same issue. Through trouble shoot it was discovered that the problem is NOT your external hard drive at all. It's perfectly fine. the problem is the Windows 10 update breaks access to the external hard drive. if you restore your laptop to a prior date before the Windows 10 update everything will work fine and you will be able to access your external drive and use all your files. Solution: Don't install the Windows 10 update until Microsoft fixes the access error. Roll back the operating system to a date prior to the Windows 10 update using system restore. Then bitch at Microsoft to roll out a solution to its faulty update.
