Hi all,
to make a long story short, i rebooted, and got a winlogon.exe - missing dll error. after a couple attempts to repair windows, i did a reinstall of the system (not reformat, tho).
everything was fine, was able to salvage my sites, and other critical data.
however, two folders can not be accessed, now. They both give me an "Access Denied" error when i double click them.
one is the original user folder (eric) in Documents and Settings.... the other is c:\documents\ which is what i had that user's "my documents" mapped to. thing is, i was able to get into the other user (amy) from the old install, including the my documents folder (which i had stored in the default place under Documents and Settings\amy).
I've tried accessing it thru a cmd window, as well as booting into safe mode and trying that. I would really like to retrieve this data, as there are photos and word docs that i don't have recent back-ups of...
any ideas? the username i have on this system is different form the username that i can't get into... would that make a difference? i wouldn't think so, because i didn't reinstall the other user (amy) and was able to access that folder fine.
any info is greatly appreciated.
