Access 97 filesize limits?

Does anyone know if there are any filesize limits on an Access 97 database.

We had a problem with the database this morning, I have restored yesterday's backup. However, I have noticed that the filesize is 1GB now, and was wondering whether this is the cause of the problem, or whether something else is.

I don't want any Anti-Access rants, it was designed and implemented way there was an IT department, but we are in the process of getting a SQL version of the database designed, but that's still a couple of months off.

You may want to try compacting the database to see if that helps shrink it a bit.

Yep, if I remember correctly, 1GB is the limit. Any way you could archive some old data off to another database until the replacement is up?
