This is probably a dumb question but here goes.
My wife brought home a purchased copy of Office 2002 to do some data base work at home.She got confused about the online registration part.The program was purchased and she has the product code. She is unsure whether she should register it or not.She is down to 35 uses.
I am assuming the online registration is some type of anti piracy stuff, but that is the extent of my knowledge.Any info would be greatly appreciated....Thanks

Yes, you need to activate OfficeXP apps in order to use them after the limited use period is up. The only info MS asks for is your country of residence.

Registration is not the same as activation. You have to do the latter while the former is optional.

Yes, she'll have to activate it. The easiest way is to connect to the internet and then let the program activate over the connection.

the corporate version does not require activation, so it is alot less of a hassle, if you can get it. 😉

Thanks. Evidentally I do not know the difference between registration and activation.I will try and become more informed.Is the online stuff some kind of anti-piracy thing?.She was concerned that something might happen to the apps on her pc at work, if she did the online thing from another location..Thanks again.
P.S. Since it is a small office, I guess no one thought about purchasing the corporate version.
