Is there some kind of data-cable/hdd kit in which i can use to access my regular desktop hdd (bare) from laptop? Something like i can put my desktop hdd in a kit and have my data transfer via USB cable to laptop? Just wondering...

Thanks

Its called an external HDD case, go for usb 2.0 or firewire if possible as usb 1 is quite slow, Have a look on eb@y.

Well, there are adapters to allow you to use laptop drives with regular (40? 44?) pin IDE cables that are in desktop PCs. The laptop adapter has the IDE lines plus the power lines in the same connector.

If you took one of these and used it in reverse that would prolly work, but you'd likely have to alter the adapter to allow it to fit inside of the laptop depending on how your HD mounts in your laptop. This is assuming you're using this for some sort of debugging purpose... If just for general use, you'll want what Minogon mentioned.

And yes, order of preference for interface (if you have it): USB 2.0, firewire (IEEE1394), USB1.1.

good luck.
