I ran a couple searches of the boards and didn't find a clear answer for this...
I put together an AMD x3 720 System, AM3 770 full ATX gigabite board etc.. The fourth core unlocked no problem, and the system is passing stability tests, but my one concern is the temperatures it's reaching. Being an unlocked three core, I can't read the individual core temps, but the overall CPU temp in EasyTune 6 has been upwards of 60C when running prime95 or OCCT. When do I get concerned?
Last night running prime95 for ten minutes it reached 75c so I shut it down. I snagged a 120mm fan at the local computer shop for the side of my case and I've been running Prime95 for half an hour now, on the mixed torture test, and I'm around 62c. Idle, I'm seeing around 39-42c.
I'd really rather not have to order a new HSF, as with my particular board many designs interfere with my RAM, and I don't wanna spend 30-50 bucks if I don't have to. Also, given the aggressive nature of these tests, am I likely to ever do anything to get the computer this hot? What's safe?
