Acceptable cpu temp range

I'm sure it's probably been answered somewhere but I'm not finding it at the moment. What are the normally acceptable temps for cpu's under load? I am about to undertake my first real attempts at overclocking and would like to know about what to expect. Thanks for any help you can give...

For the A64 line, with good cooling, 50C maximum is good. If the temps get higher than 55C, then I'd look at backing off the overclock and/or lowing the voltage.

Assuming you are talking about the X2 in your sig, then blue is right. 55*C shouldnt be passed, although the chip will probably be fine up into the 60's, the 90nm cpu's dont take as well to heat as their 130nm counterparts did.

As with all current P4's and AMD cpu's you want to stay below 65C. In fact it's been that way for several years. 😀

Modern CPUs have a thermal protection in the mid to high 70s. Don't get me wrong, cooler is of course better. But it's silly that many are worried about temperatures in the 50s.
