Firstly, I'm not trolling.
Secondly, I'm not endorsing the Gun Owners of America (got this from a FB post)

What are the thoughts on the message? Which message do you agree with?

TJ.

Tyranny has many forms. I think when one becomes complacent to it it can sneak in, like a fat tummy or a drinking habit.

Not really the same context, hmm?

And LOL @ the idea that gun ownership causes any fear in the government. Angry voters and powerful lobbies, now, that's what does it.

Lets see.... It's a tough choice. One correctly sees that the government should be there to serve the people and that people should have the power over the government. The other one tells us "just trust me, there will be no tyranny. Now hand over all weapons like a good little serf."

What's funny is that those who clothe themselves in the Founding Fathers when waxing patriotic about guns can't run away from the Founding Fathers fast enough when the subject changes to Christianity and/or religion in general.

What's more funny is you bringing up religion again.

Apples to oranges. Jefferson is talking about the appropriate balance of power of people vs. government, Obama was speaking against the lunatic paranoia that exists in certain segments of American society.

So, they're both right.

I'd agree with you if you dropped the word "lunatic".

Thomas Jefferson was and still is right. You have one guy who warned about tyranny and then another guy obama who says to just trust him.

Thomas Jefferson was one of the greatest presidents the US ever had and obama will NEVER be as good a president as Jefferson.

I think "lunatic" should stay.

Lol at comparing the two.

Why not compare Hitler to Obama? here ya go..

The greatness of every mighty organization embodying an idea in this world lies in the religious fanaticism and intolerance with which, fanatically convinced of its own right, it intolerantly imposes its will against all others

Well, they certainly weren't atheists either.

It is very obvious that the natural progression of things is for government to continue to expand and gain more control/influence over every facet of life. If people want to remain free, they have to resist that process and resist the temptation to sacrifice freedom for the promise of safety (patriot act anyone?). Jefferson and some of the other founders understood this. Now we have the village idiot in office telling us to stop worrying about tyranny and simply give up control to him and his minions.

Keep displaying your ignorance. Although some weren't members of any given church, they most certainly weren't agnostic. Deist perhaps, but that's far from agnostic.

I have no time to display my ignorance because yours crowds everyone else's out.

The difference between deist and agnostic is about as relevant to the point I was making as the difference between vegetable oil and canola oil in cooking. In other words, you completely missed the boat. As I said, your ignorance has crowded everyone else's out.

The point is they kept their personal spirituality out of public law... which is something that no one on the crazy evangelical fringe wants to happen.

Sarah Palin: "We should create law based on the God of the Bible."

No, we shouldn't, Sarah... because your religion does not and never should apply to anyone but yourself.
