passive i dont think would be quite a good idea, unless somehow u had a fan sitting on the bottom of your pc letting air flow straight up through teh fin s

I'm not sure how you figure that, to be completely honest. They're not that tall, definitely not enough to be remotely touching the other card, and the air is blown at (upward) and around the card so airflow is not going to be obstructed.

I'm pretty sure they fit on DFI Expert boards.

I had a VF700 cooler on my first card and I stuck in my 2nd card (using stock cooler) and it fit barely...

I have an Ultra-D btw...

the x1 acceleros are virtually silent, so there's really no need for a passive cooler.:/ i own the x1 accelero and man i hafta keep checking the fan to make sure it's on, that's how quiet it is.

Looks distinctly unimpressive. No ability to attach your own fan if you want to is a big mistake in my book. Either they didn't receive the 7900GT PCB design or they ignored it with the Accelero X# series.

Time to break out the zipties and a fan for anyone that buys one of these.

Well with the stock heatsink/fan on the evga 7900 GT superclock, there is only 2 inches that seperate the cards.

So with the Zalman it's not going to leave much for cooling/airflow between the cards.

Dimensions : 96(L) X 96(W) X 30(H)mm

This will barely leave a 1/4" between them, not sure this is going to be good for the bottom card, I would think it would gather more heat at the bottom, not to mention the sound card then below the bottom card getting hotter too, hmm.

ALOHA

I think it's pretty odd that here it is almost June, and there are no reviews of the Accelero S1 to be found anywhere. There have been no new pics of the cooler either. The only pics are still those from CeBIT back in March.

I wonder how the heat pipes will be attached. As they are, only a small fraction of the surface area will conduct to the aluminum.

they're not even on sale for another 3 months, looks a little premature for a review.

what's wrong with the accelero?
