Accelero Question

Does anyone know where I can get an adapter to plug an Accelero power cable into a regular 4 pin molex (instead of into the video card's fan header?) I know I could probably crimp or solder one up myself but I'd like to go readymade.

The only reason I can think of to do that, would be to run the fan at 100% constantly. If that's your goal, then I would suggest just editing the BIOS and flash it. I did this with my Accelero X2 and X1900XT (flashed to X1900XTX). You just edit all the temperature ramps to 100%, save, and flash. My card is frosty cool now (46°C idle with 38°C ambient case temp) and doesn't even break into the 70s under full load.

Yes, I am looking for it so I can run the fan at 100% constantly. I realize I can do that w/ATItool or Rivatuner, but I prefer not to have to rely on an extra program. The idea of flashing the card would probably work, what flash program did you use Golgotha? gersson, I appreciate the offer but I don't think that would work on a X1900GT! Would certainly be nice if it did though:D So, my original question still stands. Is there such an animal as this adapter? Or will I have to go one of the other routes?

ah, I see. Ok. You can still use Rabit 2 and change the fan speeds for certain temps. It would be worth it, IMO. then use Winflash to save your new bios. BTW, with winflash you can make a backup, so that's where you would start, then on to Rabit 2

Rabit 2.0 and ATI Flash from gersson's thread did the trick for me. I already had and used ATI Flash before to flash from XT to XTX, but I didn't have the editing utility. Works great.

Ironically, it was the number 1 hit when I Google searched for ATI BIOS fan 100%.

Actually you can save your X1900GT BIOS with ATI Flash as a file, edit the file with Rabit 2.0, and then flash the edited BIOS file back to your card. Easy as pie and really the best way to go about editing things since you will be flashing the original BIOS back with only minor changes.

I run my accelero at 100% all the time, and without bios flashing. I just set it up using RivaTuner. On a x1900xt.

Yeah, I guess I just like to have the BIOS flashed so I never have to worry about 3rd party software doing something odd.

Thanks guys. Munky, I think ronnn's doing the same thing. I don't want the 3rd party software right now either, so I think gersson and Golgotha have me convinced to give it a go. I've got'em downloaded already.

Yep worked for me also. One question, is there anyway to change temperature parameters? Such as have it bump to 100% at 45c ?

Yes, use rabit 2.0 for that. That's what we were talking about, silly :p

Oh is rabbit 2.0 different than 2.1? 2.1 will let me change fan speeds (worked nicely), but can't seemto change the temp parameters.

anyways this is much better than using software, thanks!

Ok, I see rabit 2.0a beta has an optomize feature that gives you more temp parameters. So if i get over my fear of the word beta and flashing my vid card, i will try it.

well, I didn't mean to say only 2.0 works. i didn't know there was a newer version :p

The PWN or whatever its called coorolates to the temps. Take a close look, I believe it tells you how it relates to temp C*

Oops I found it, thanks. Just a little box marked temp. Will try it later, 100% is so quiet, it took me a while to even hear it. But in theory, every bit of quiet should improve music quality.

Well, that's odd. I used gersson's link in his thread and RaBit 2.1.0 was what downloaded. The fan settings were under the "feature" tab (named "environment monitor.") Using the drop down for "Entry", I changed each "Fan Duty Cycle" to 100 (percent.) It looked like I could have easily just made my own custom ramping by picking different percentages for the temps I chose. I don't think I did anything wrong? Using that, it looks like you could have changed it to anything you wanted ronnn. Checking it afterwards was a minor pain though. CCC showed lower idle temps so everything looked fine. Had to then fire up ATItool, switch off the force fan setting and reboot. I then used ATItool to doublecheck and sure enough - 100%. Then I had to kill ATItool and go back and fix my overdrive settings. Have you tried any OCing ronnn? I'm currently running 648/711 in overdrive.
