There is none. Slippery slope is 99% of the time a pretext.

At this point, I suggest folks to take time to read the opinion(s). I started doing so myself. The opinion is linked in the first post of this thread.

I suggest that you can be taxed into whatever behavior those in charge want by taxing you on nothing besides their will. When it is your turn I hope you bow as deeply.

Whether or not you support the bill, the way the decision is worded is damnable: the right to property no longer exists in the United States. "However, five Justices agreed that the penalty that someone must pay if he refuses to buy insurance is a kind of tax that Congress can impose using its taxing power." Congress can now take your money if you choose not to spend it as they see fit. That's bad.

Agreed.

So the Constitution is wrong. Perhaps you might want to start an organization to amend the constitution. (make sure to add equal rights for every U.S. citizen regardless of what kind of genitalia they've got)

o_O I think you quoted the wrong post. I was simply posting tax rates from the past. The Constitution does not limit tax rates, nor did I make any mention of that.

We have taxation but with representation. Do you know American history?

You mean like the 14th Amendment already grants?

You really think the healthcare law can be the central issue in November when his opponent is Mitt Romney? This is and has always been the chief downside of Romney being the nominee.

I absolutely think so.
Mitt will spin it, as he has been doing, that it's up to the states to do what's right for their state, but not for the feds to mandate it, etc.
I think people will care much much more about his promise to repeal than his past history with Romneycare.

Between Romneycare, Bain Capital and his lack of any concrete economic, foreign and domestic agenda Romney is screwed, Obama only needs to keep pushing and he will grab the independents come November.

Why wouldn't there be an election? So you want the US to be damaged?

No I do not want America to go down for the count . I would like to see a flash knockdown were the stunned and surprized fighter jumps to his feet in the knowledge he is in a real fight. So he changes and adopts to his opponent style. Cooperations and the Banks are destroying America and the people we vote in are making laws for the 1% this includes the drug laws / The more laws one creates the more jobs one creates at the same time . Building prisons more policeman more guards . Its all about creating false jobs in the creation of false felons. War on drugs produces a huge number of JOBS. Healthcare works in much the same manner . If the government wants Good healthcare they need to control the High wages in that profession. They need to give the elderly the same RIGHTS that A mother has over the life of unborn children . That will never happen as it would mean jobs lost to the retirements homes which are in human to start with . Human preach humanity Even puts men in prison for fighting dogs . Yet Monsanto is destroying and inhuman to Cattle threw use of the growth hormons. Its not about Right /Wrong Its all about money. Is that really all we are about in the year 2000? Money . You bet your arse thats all we are about as a WHOLE. Sure there are good people out there 1 out of every 3. Its time 2/3 retired to the grave.
You understand how nature works correct . Man works in other direction. We nurrish the sick . and allow them to entir the gene pool which destroys the work of nature of eliminating the weak. You go against nature the long term effect is degeneration. Only Believers in God can say this . Those who believe we evolved know this to be the truth of how nature works. So your appluading the degeneration of the species real smart. A christian understands why the lord came for the poor of heart and broken bodies . That which is created can never die . It can change to its root but it exist for all time. Death is something that comes to all things and life comes forth . The elements in my body well remain long after I have died an eternity . what it comes down to is you thinking your here by chance or by intelligent design and if you share consciousness with that intelligence.

If There is no god and life after death equals what I experianced befor birth than I also welcome piece over a world that has 1/3 of its children dieing from starvation and man spends trillions on making war on mankind and brings about even more human syffering. NO this is wrong at least 1/3 of us see the truth of this. were as 2/3 are disfunctional and believe war is justifiable . right now at this time our leaders are worse than the leaders of Russia and germany durring WW2. The great American people will only be great up till the end of WW2. After that history will tell the true story of Americas fall. USA one war after another from than to now and we the aggressors. The USA has become the BAD COP in the world

Yes. Because, unfortunately, it seems like not everyone can read and understand plain English.

P.S. If you want the list of those people, I can provide a few: Maggie Gallagher, Phyllis Schlafly, Ann Coulter,..

I was addressing a specific argument, not Romney in general. That is not what this thread is about.

Just a few more ACA notes:

The medical expense tax deduction floor will increase from 7.5% to 10%. Going forward it will now be more difficult to deduct medical expenses since there will be a higher threshold to satisfy.

Flexible spending account contributions will now be legally capped at $2500, creating a huge donut hole for the millions of people on high-deductible plans.

If the least expensive coverage offered by your employer, or the least expensive coverage available on an Exchange (after any eligible tax credits) is 8% or more of your income you are exempt from the individual mandate.
Example: My employer's cheapest rate for a family is $258.34/month or $3100/year. Anyone who works for my employer, is married, has one dependent and makes less than $38,752/year is exempt from the mandate.

They already tax income, consumption and property. How is this any different?
All of those are proportionality taxes: some fraction of my income, some fraction of my expenditures, or some fraction of an asset's value. Now they are taxing actions/inactions where no proportionality exists. If congress decides it wants you to buy a box of donuts every week and you refuse to do it, they can fine you an arbitrary amount of money.

Hahahahahaha, what a bunch of retards. Conservatives should move to Somalia, i hear that place is a free market utopia without a tyrannical government running roughshod over people's freedoms.

Edit: haha, just noticed someone else made the same comment in the article.

OMG just read your link...I can't believe those idiots! LMFAO

This was my favorite quote: "I'm moving to Canada, the United States is entirely too socialist."

LMAO!!!!!!

As far as constitutionality goes SCOTUS made the right ruling all around. As a tax, such a bill is legal. Though I've long had issue with our screwed up tax laws that allow such non-sense to be forced upon us.

I'd also like to add that I believe the bill does nothing to correct issues with our health care industry, it simply shoves more people into the broken system. Every issue we have today will simply be exacerbated along with costs skyrocketing over the next decade.

I want real reform to our nation so we can properly address our healthcare issues, we live in an age of excess and Americans should have affordable access to reasonable healthcare. Yes reasonable healthcare, spending 1m to keep your ass alive so you can't contribute anything doesn't constitute reasonable healthcare. We really need to change the way our society fears death and illness.
