ac97 sound

i have installed the ac'97 sound drivers on my mb over and over again cheack the cmos and still there is problem. this problem is that there is a problem axcessing the direct sound. i really do not know what that is. i went to cmos and enable the via legaecy and enabled all the on bord sound and still have the problem..

would any one know what is wrong with the whole system..


mb MSI k7t pro 2a
chip Duron 800
sound is onbord using MPV 4 via drivers
using the 4 in 1 ver 4.29

so what is wrong.. thank you for any of your replies..

Just enable the onboard sound but disable all legacy sound devices. Are you using the newest drivers? 1.08 i think. I have the save MB as you. What bios revision are you using? I updated to the 2.5 bios with no problems. I've heard horror stories of the 2.5 giving a bad flash, so you might want to bring the board to a computer store to do it for you and if they screw up... they ow you a board. peace out.

The latest drivers are actually 120a. But if using winme and win 2000 you have to use the 108 drivers. via 108 drivers.

I have installed a msi k7t pro2a and enabled all sound things I could find in the bios, and it is now working great. And if you are using win98se, do not install the win98se driver, install the win98 drivers! (all drivers can be found under the zip file I linked, but it is kind of big (20 mb))
