AC outlets on swa planes?

Couldn't find the answer on their webapge and I'm too lazy to call, wondering if anyone knew the answer. I'm flying to from Cali to NY in a few weeks, wondering if I could hook up my laptop to an AC outlet on the plane ... TIA!

Ive never seen one. Plus its not like they are in the air for more than an hour anyway. CA to NY, whats that about 7 stops?

Haha, so true. You should be able to charge it up at the airport in Houston and Indianapolis.

haha, suprisingly enough, it's a direct flight to long island but the returning flight has one stop ... argh, I'll be so bored ... I was hoping to catch up on some Naruto =)

I've never found an outlet on any flights inside the US, not on SW, AA, USAIR, Delta, Continental, etc. It's usually not too hard to find an outlet in the airport, but my battery won't last for a 3 hour flight.:frown:

Many MD-80's, 757's that fly domestic flights have them.

LordSnailz, I've managed to get almost 3 hours out by reducing the CPU speed a bunch and dimming the LCD. Reduction from a 2 ghz is still plenty fast for me.

They are under the seats, and not in every row. Go here and choose type of plane and it will show you where the accessory outlets are located.

SWA is a basic 737. Just a bunch of seats, thats all. No frills.

Not sure how they do it but with United you need the airplane DC-DC adapter. I just bought a $10 airplane plug->cigarrete lighter adapter and use a DC->AC adapter.

hmm... I wonder if United also has power plugs in economy? I know they have it in business and first on longer flights (yeah for free upgrades).

Continental's supposed to have them on their airlines but I didn't see any flying economy. Maybe they have them for business class. I was looking through their in-flight catalog (I was bored ) and I saw a couple of outlet converters to plug into the airplane jacks...so they're there somewhere.

There are no outlets on planes usually, because it's a potential fire hazard. You never know when some idiot is gonna short it. It could be made safe, but it's just not worth the liability.

Are those outlets 110AC or 12V?

I used to have to use my laptop in my car and on planes so I bought a small inverter.
Could be used for a coffee pot, radio, TV, small power tools, etc.

On all the domestic flights I've been on, only one flight has ever had air power plugs.
For the $90 I would have spent on an air power plug I managed to get 2 extra batteries for my notebook. Now I can run for 6+ hours on batteries.
