AC motor that uses only single wire?

I've been thinking again. Does an AC motor exist that only uses a single AC power supply wire? What I'm envisioning is a motor that employs high speed switches to make use of the voltage difference between the high part of the sine wave and the low as the driving voltage. There would be no neutral or ground wire and the complete circuit would consist of the AC conductor and the motor itself. Such a motor could drive a vehicle that could propel itself along the conductor. The AC supply would likely have to be single phase.

Interesting idea Not sure of the advantage since you can use earth return.
