I have a portable color TV that uses 4 AA batteries, Its 6v but doesn't specify how many milliamp it requires. I don't want to buy too big of an adapter that it'll blow it out, Anyone know how many mA 4 AA batteries put out?

You can power a lower mA with a higher mA AC adapter, that rating is just the maximum it will put out. I had a few 300mA pedals that were powered by a 1200mA adapter, and had no problems powering them individually (I just couldn't daisy-chain more than 4 pedals to that one adapter). The # of batteries won't tell you the rating, I believe.

Batteries probably won't truely tell how many milliamps but considering 4AA's put out 600ma it's probably safe to assume you need at least a 600ma adapter. :)

actually, the batteries put out as many amps as required. the higher the amperage used, the faster the batteries die. consider them as a voltage source (which is what they are), and whatever load is on it will draw the current.

what you need is an ohmmeter to find out how many ohms your tv is using, and then calculate the number of amps via the number of volts which you shoudl assume to be fixed. then get an adapter capable of outputting slightly higher than the amount you calculate.
