I'm personally dumbfounded by the CPU scaling. Have there been any games in recent times to display such poor CPU scaling? And I mean, no offence, while the game looks good it is by no means a technological marvel.

I had a GTX 960, where GPU usage topped out at around 80% while playing ABZU, and now with my GTX 1060 GPU usage tops off at 60%. CPU is an i5 3330, and the CPU usage is only around 60-70% and no single core seems to be stressed to the max either (other games usage 80-90% easily).

I keep an eye on CPU scaling very diligently (GameGPU and Techspot usually include CPU tests) given my "old" CPU and till now there has never been a strong case for me to upgrade yet. I have never noticed a game which scales as badly as this. Even No Man's Sky with its procedural generation has got stellar CPU scaling.

Till today I have been skeptical about claims saying Denuvo can degrade the performance of games...but now I wonder, is Denuvo to be blamed for this?

Haven't heard of the game before, but that is pretty crazy CPU bottleneck going on :O

Have you played Subnautica? Its also an underwater adventure game but is graphically far superior

The max gpu usage of the 1070 should be less that the 960 (as it is) since the 1070 is a much more powerful card. Since the cpu usage is less than a hundred percent, I suspect you do have a cpu bottleneck due to some process that requires more single threaded performance. So that process is limiting your framerate, even though you still have more cpu power available. The fact that other games utilize more of the cpu just means that they are not as limited by one process.

reminds me of the old Aquanox games. those were great.
anyone remember the ULTIMATE BENCHMARK Aquamark?? it's over 12 years old now!
someone should run aquamark with a GTX1080!

Going forward, you should expect a 6700k to be at least 50-75% faster than a 2500k, will happen in the future, 100%. In terms of minimum FPS the difference maybe even greater.

Expect this within EOY 2017.
