There's no accountability at the highest levels of power.

Democracy is only 350yrs old. How much longer till it crumbles and a new revolution comes?

I wonder if this thread title is a misnoner that will send chasing chimeras. We we really have is an always existing set of events and a chained set of conditional probabilities. And when the chained probabilities reach some other high typical level, you can kiss democracy goodbye.

But the events are.

1. An abuse of power.---always too frequent

2. That the abuse of power is exposed. With a criminal conviction resulting.

3. The chance anyone can get away with pardoning the miscreant. And afterwards stay in a position of power so they can keep abusing power.

Even with all its short comings, I seriously doubt you would want to live under any other form of government!!

All throughout the short history of Democracy it has had its short coming and various abuses. But as of today nobody has come up with a better form of government!

If I am wrong pray tell please educate us!!

Peace!!
