OK, this is kinda of old news but... I just stumbled on this...

Link

The federal government's "no sex without marriage" message isn't just for kids anymore.

Now the government is targeting unmarried adults up to age 29 as part of its abstinence-only programs, which include millions of dollars in federal money that will be available to the states under revised federal grant guidelines for 2007.

Damn! Talk about big brother!!! Better put your seat belt on while your at it!

Gotta like the part of MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN FEDERAL MONEY.... Why the F*** don't they just give out condoms... OH yeah, I forgot, America is too retarded to figure out how to use them.

We might as well be putting birth control ground up in berger king and McDonald's hamburgers. This is just really dumb. But, Oh well...

Sigh.. This is pretty stupid.

Last year, 46 states applied for the federal abstinence-education money, to fund programs in schools, neighborhood clubs and faith-based organizations.

Geee, they are lining up at the door with hands out... Sheesh... Yep... This is why it's a stupid idea....

For last year's state grants, Congress appropriated $50 million. A similar amount is expected for 2007, but the money has not yet been allocated, according to the Administration for Children and Families.

"I think the program should talk about the problem with out-of- wedlock childbearing ? not about your sex life," Brown says. "If you use contraception effectively and consistently, you will not be in the pool of out-of-wedlock births."

REALLY???????? sheesh, any brain dead idiot could have figure that one out...

Sorry to see the money wasted, but you have to admit that using "faith based organizations" and "no sex without marriage" in the same article is pretty funny considering the great success so many religious leaders have had in keeping their sexual relationships confined to marriage.

You have to admit that using "Islam" and "religion of peace" in the same sentence is pretty funny considering the great success so many of the religion have had in peacefully coexisting with their neighbors.

Same logic.

Why do they need all of this money for what amounts to getting in front of people and telling them "QUIT FORNICATING! IT'S GONNA FALL OFF!"

There is a Justice Dept probe going on about this Faith Based spending by this Administration but I doubt anything will come of it before Jan 19 2009.

This Justice department has done a damn fine job of cracking down on businesses gone awry, I am pretty sure they can figure this problem out too.

Right? Like firing Prosecutors who don't find enough dirt on Democrats?

Oh jackschmittusa! How about the selfrightous spending their ire on sex outside of marriage? I only ask because so many seem to practice abstinence during marriage.;)

What is it with our government and the seeming need to spend money on things that have been proven wrong time and time again?

I think it's said that 79% of people who take the 'oath' break it anyway, and they're all the less protected because of it. Saw it on a local news report, about a 'dance' where the daughters pledge their virginity to their fathers (weird much?) so when they 'give them away' to a guy they're really 'giving it all away'. And this is what my tax dollars go towards. And they want to cut NPR in favor of this tired bullshit? Ironically, in the words of conservative shill John Stossel, gimme a break.

Just more wasted tax dollars. The money would be better spent on providing birth control, funding tubal ligations and vasectomies for the poor, and on subsidizing the costs of abortions for poor women. (All voluntarily, of course; I'm not saying anyone should be pushed into it.)
