I have read many posts concerning new LCD's and it seems the conclusions are rather vague. Many people say new technology is about to be released. Some say 12ms response time on some monitors is really not that good and can barely compete with 20ms response time. The Dell 2001FP is obviously a good choice but I don't have the money to buy a high-end video card to run at 1600X1200. 1280X1024 is a perfect Native Resolution for me and 19" is plenty.

Basically I am looking for an LCD with the most quality in pictures, games, overall build and look. Also something I am considering is a monitor you can mount on the wall but that is not a determining factor. Sony's new SDMHS94P seems like a perfect monitor for the job with it's 12ms response time but many people have argued that it is not truly 12ms.

Does anyone have suggestions about "the perfect monitor" for what I am looking for?

Oh, BTW, unlimited budget.

Thanks again and again Anandtechers.

Unlimited budget eh? :D

The new Sony lcds wit xbrite technology or something are probably the best LCDS out there. They are very expensive, but should be no problem for u.

Sorry jpeyton...I don't think those two monitors will cut it for gaming (20-25ms :()

Is that Sony truly 12ms?

You have an unlimited budget, but you don't have the money for a new video card? Odd...

I'm confused about how much of a gamer you really are. For most people, I would just suggest that they get the wonderful BenQ screen. If you're so much of a hardcore gamer that you're considering paying double for a 12ms screen, I don't see why you're ruling out getting a new video card.

LOL Tostada, you caught me.

Do you have some useful information or are you going to turn this thread into something I can't rely on?

Please let me know the best LCD for gaming? I am asking a simple question, no need to pick on me for information that collides.

Go with a 16ms or better response time if you can afford it. Agree that looking at a store is a great idea also.

There is no standard for manufacturers to use regarding response times. They can slap whatever they want to in the specs. Usually they just use a single color transition time out of millions of possiblities.

Here is a graph showing various response times for other color transitions of a "25ms" display: http://www.extremetech.com/article2....
They range from 8ms to 54ms.

Until we get a real standard for the release of this data the only thing you can do is view the display yourself or trust information you read from other reviews.
