I have always been a fan of Abraham Lincoln and was reading an article about him the other day when it brought up the fact he had served in the House of Representatives for one term. Lincoln, by today's comparison, was not an overly experienced candidate for President and probably not "ready on day one." When critics of Obama mention the fact he has not spent years in Washington as Clinton or McCain has, they may be forgetting that he has something in common with one of this country's greatest Presidents.

And Einstein and Bill Gates dropped out of school. I get the "experience isn't absolutely mandatory" argument, but it'd be a silly person who would argue that formal education is highly overrated just because some brilliant minds in the past succeeded without it.
He got kicked out in his teens, though he did go back. But you prove my point. Apparently Bill Gates is the only person in the world to succeed without a formal education. Even Einstein needed it. You think Obama is smarter than Einstein? Do ya?!![]()

IIRC there are more than a handful of US Presidents that didnt complete any formal education.

It's probably just your upper lip.
Lincoln was a man of understanding with character - and the same recognition of self evident truths the founders had. Today a persons education is often just a veneer of memorised information people think makes them smart when their often dumber for the illusion of it all (look at the dupes that fell that man made global warming rubbish - "the science is in and the conclusions unanimous!" was what a lot of them were posting a year ago).
Obama is superficially polished (like a lot of 2 bit actors waiting for a call to do a commercial in LA) but still not a man of understanding. He's soft Marxist at heart to anyone who understands the rhetoric and doesnt relate to the emotional cues the suggestible people resonate with. On substance Obama could not hold a candle to Ford no less Lincoln. Lincoln wouldn't have spoken about invading an ally like Pakistan out in public in meanlingless talk months before a vote. He didnt know what he was doing on a key issue that he was especially expected to know about since he was close to foreign relations. Only the Hope-a-dopes could find value in Obama after that (not that its the only thing mind)
