Hey I'm about to purchase this card..

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814140067

Its really a little more than I wanted to spend on a card.... :disgust: but after surfing around It seems like the best fit for my rig I'm building. (and the eVGA 6800 for $166 AR is OOS) It will be for my Lan party rig. I dont' need a hard core card, I would like to be able to play titles such as HL2 and CS:S with some eye candy @ 1024x768, or more preferably 1280x1024. Looked at a 6600GT for a while, but this 6800 looks a little more manly ;)

Needs to be AGP unfortunately... I'm open to suggestions though before I buy.

Not worth it.

If you need a card desperately then pick up a 6600GT for ~120. If you need more power, 6800GT. The NU is simply not worth the price right now.

(I dont remember, does the GS come in AGP?)

i bought the 6800 about 2 months ago and I think I paid 160 even for it. At 180 its a little questionable if its worth it IMO. It'll beat a 6600gt in every bench if I'm not mistaken. The 6800gt is almost always 280 plus in agp, so thats a totally different category imo.

i have a Apollo 6800nu, came with a different stock cooler though. i paid $239 for mine back in March. IMO that's a great price($179), but mostly likely you're going to try to unlock the extra pipes. the pipes will almost always unlock, but there's a chance that they could be damaged, and cause some serious atrifacts. also the 6800gs does come in AGP, but a release date hasn't been announced yet.

I got the $159 PNY 6800nu at newegg along time ago when they had them.

I have full 16x6x pipes unlocked and working. I can run the core at 405mhz and the memory at almost 915mhz. So, for $160 or so I get almost 6800 GT speeds. So it was definitely a good deal, at least for me it was :)

One of the best deals on the market. The only thing is, it doesn't support FP32, SM3, and some other features. If you want those, then invest in a 6800GT which runs ~$289.

Here's hoping you get a nice unlock/overclock out of the 6800.

The 6800 is starting to show it's age, but it's a damn good card.

I put the credit card away for now. I"ll wait and see what kind of Voodoo the AGP 6800GS can perform when it gets released in AGP.
I think that is the correct choice for an AGP upgrade at this point... wait for the AGP 6800GS... that will be the best price to performance you can get... smart move.
