About to purchase CPU/MOBO need help and suggestions.

I am looking to spend 200 or less give or take a few.

What would you suggest. Keep in mind these things.

1. AGP X800 XT PE, great card have to have a AGP slot.
2. Looking to overclock.
3. AMD only... Sorry last intel I had was the old celerons 333 that would O/C like hell.
4. Like I said around or less then $200

Right now I have my eyes on a E6 Venice 3200 and a Asrocks M1695 939Dual-Sata2.
I can get that for 202. Any advice... do you think this is my best bet? LMK know what you guys think. Tell me what would be better and how much. Thanks.

xp 2800 to Venice 3200 isn't really worth it.. unless u r going to OC that 3200.. then i'd stick w/ 3000 which OCs better...

do the 3000venice and the asrock board :) i don't think the extra ~$50 for the 3200 is worth the performance you get in exchange. put the extra $$ towards a xp90 and 90mm panaflo and o/c that 3000

also, where are you getting your prices from? i thought the 3200 was ~$190 and the asrok was ~$70...

uhh... they do?... I think its more on the batch lol... 3200+ and 3000+ o/cs about the same...

I'd go with...

k8n neo2 or dfi nf3 socket 939 (yes it exists...) w/ uhh... 3200+? Overbudget but hey, good ..

Well with my GPU, i think my cpu is bottlenecking my GPU. My 2800+ will not overclock. the 3200+ will overclock. And with the motherboard I have selected, I will have agp pci-e, and 939 support, and an upgrade port for m2.

Built my girls system from that site, got a mobo and sempron 2800 from that site. Got the item fast. the sempron overclocked 2.4 on stock voltage and hs/fan as well. I have had good luck with them...

Battlefield 2, I cant even do max settings, and I should be able to with this card.

I put my x800xt pe in my girls sempron @ 2.4 and I could put my settings to max. And her system only has 512 and I got a gig.

at what resolution? i am pretty close to you in terms of machine speed and we both have the same video card. i play @ 1280x960 6AA all high with no dynamic shadows or lighting and get a min of 30fps in the most severe action sets. when i pushed it to 1600x1200 i did have to go to lower settings and did notice a couple hicccups.

1028x768... LCD monitor, that is the max it supports. I don't understand it. I have almost everything maxed, but not the AA and stuff like that.

definately, i am really eyeing that board, especially since my next build will be amd with all of their advantages over intel now (when i built my machine 1.5yrs ago i was doing a lot of video encoding/creation and the old p4s were beating the axps in that arena so that is why i went intel then) - better encoding, better at ps, better at premiere, x2s instead of the intel dcs, o/c, the list goes on. and that board supports m2, h@ll what else could you ask for.

as far as it running at 1024x768, do you have a lot of other items running? you should be able to with your current setup run @ 1024x768.....

is the gameplay bad all the time or choppy sometimes? do you usually go over your 1GB of ram into the pagefile?

Just formatted and reinstalled win, less then a week ago, only things on this is half life 2 and battlefield 2.

after you play, see what your total ram usage. maybe you hitting the hdd and if it is heavily fragmented that could cause more severe issues when getting data on and off it. personally, i defrag with diskeeper at least once a week.

also, is it always on the same server or different ones? i know sometimes i will get on certain servers with a couple buddies and we will all experierence lag/choppines problems even though our pings will be ~50. my friends rigs are equal to or faster than mine including 6800gts in sli on a64 3700s and 2GB of ram. it appears that some of the ranked server vendors "whore" their machines out and kind of oversell, and our problems start because the server machine doesn't have enough power, either in ram, cpu or hdds speed.

also, what do you get with 3dmark03 and 05?

Sorry I was playing some BF2

I got 11,979 3dmark03 with mine everything stock, and 5,7xx (cant remember) 3dmark05

What kind of increase do you think i will get with the 3200+ @ 2.7???

no probs, those #s are very close to what i get...not sure why you have choppy play...also not sure what you would get with a 3200+ @ 2.7. what drivers are you using for the card? are you running the catalyst 5.7s or 5.8s?

5.8s. Well with water cooling I might be able to hit 2.7. I am going to go for 300HHT, and 9x mult. I think it will work, we will see.
