Hello all. I have someone who wants to buy my old Rig for $900, so im looking to purchase a new one and this is what ive come up with so far. But id like to run it by the experts to check for any compatibility issues etc. Here goes:

CPU: E6600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819115003

MB: Gigabyte S3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813128017

RAM: PC2 6400 Dominator
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820145168

GPU: EVGA 8800GTX
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814130072

PSU: Hiper 580Watt
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817128002

HD: Seagate 7200.10 250GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822148144

CASE: Cooler Master Centurin 532
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811119094
(Same case i had before, love it)

DVD: NEC 18X
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16827152076

FLOPPY: Mitsumi 1.44MB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16821104104
(Same floppy i had before, love it)

CPU FAN: Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16835186134

CASE FAN: Scythe S-FLEX 120mm
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16835185004
(Same rear case fan i had before, love it)

Total: $1661.92 - $80 MIR = $1581.92

$1581.92 - $900 (for old rig) = $681.92

So for roughly $700 do you see anything i should avoid or comflict issues? Id love to hit between 3.0 - 3.6 GHz on this rig.

Thanks guys :)

Looks good. Might want to consider the DS3 over the S3 for your motherboard. Pretty much the same, only higher quality parts on the DS3, may be a good idea since you're OCing.

I was looking at the DS3 but the egg didnt have any in stock. I suppose i could order from somewhere else. What about the ASUS P5B is that good? The Mother board and RAM seem to be the most difficult to chose for some reason.

Also is the PSU a good quality one? I really liked the modular cables on that one.

It's back in stock now. I know the P5B is at least decent, but beyond that I don't know.

Never heard of that Hiper PSU, but it looks good to me, and the reviews are pretty high.

looks good overall... the RAM might be overkill, but if you're seriously OCing, why not... never heard of Hiper either and i'd personally would prefer a seasonic m12-600 for awesome performance and a quiet, modular design (esp. for such high end components).

The S3 still OC's pretty much as well as the DS3. It has some liquid Caps instead of solid. But this is mainly only an issue that they might leak after a long period of time, like years. Liquid caps are much better these days than they were back on some of the older Abit boards that really gave them a bad name.

The P5B though is an excellent OC'er also, prolly a little better overall and can probably hit a little higher fsb. I'd go with the G.Skill DDR2-800 HZ ram myself, little cheaper, also uses D9 micron chips which I think that Dominator ram uses to.

Seems the G. Skill HZ are $300 where as the Dominators are $262 after MIR. Nothing against G. Skill id use em if they were cheaper :p

i agree about the PSU. I've never heard of that company, it could be good or bad, but why not get something that you KNOW is good? stick to the brands people have mentioned.

I agree with the others. The power supply is questionable, and for a few more bucks you can have a 320gb HDD.

The Hipper gets good reviews in other forums.
It`s not a bad PSU. It will do the job.
For $90 again,,,you could get a different PSU. But I think you will be happy!!

Just because somebody never heard of sdomething has npo bearing on the quality or workmanship of the PSU....
Here is a link or 2 concerning the PSU...

Conclusion:
The Hiper Type-R 580 Watt PS has so many things going for it, its hard to know where to start. The innovative packaging makes a great first impression that is quickly validated by a great looking and solid performing unit. I love a good modular power supply. The Hiper 580 takes the concept to the next level! The ability to install not just the cables you need, but also the connectors you need is awesome. The solid feel of the connectors and the sturdy threaded plugs should be standard on any premium power supply. Did I mention the MSRP is only $129.99? Add in a three year warranty and the 580 watt rating and this power supply moves to the top of my list.

Overall, the Hiper Type-R 580W gets a score of "7.5"

Performance 7.5
Aesthetics 10
Value 7
Functionality 6.5
Total Score 7.5

SUMMARY:

Such a product with so much potential. I wouldn't even bother adding power factor correction in an effort to get a better score. Just fix the connectors so there's more than one pin providing voltage to three different wires and provide more cables that can be used without having to implement a bunch of adapters and this power supply could get at least a 9.

The Good....

Modular
Nice cables and connectors
Nice finish
Fairly solid rails
The Bad....

Connectors should be one to one
More adapters than modular cables!

Corsair Dominators?
Hell no.

If you are gonna spend around $300 (who knows if rebate will come back), get some Micron-based stuff not Corsair's pimped out value RAM.

Get a good [& quiet] PSU:
Corsair HX520 520W.

And if you want heavy OCing, might wanna invest in a more serious cooler.

I changed the RAM to the G. Skill PC2-6400 HZ $300.

Im going to take a chance on the Hiper PSU for now. Ill monitor it abit and if it seems inadequate ill get the Corsair HX520 which ive heard a lot of good things about.
