Dunno if it is a good place to work or not, but it is a very damaging place to my wallet. I love that store.

Congrats on your interview with HD. No offense, but I hope you can pass a pee test. They test all applicants, first thing. If you know you'll pee dirty, don't bother applying. If you get hired, there is a Delta Compound Miter saw I've had my eye on. I figure with your employee discount, I could get it for about $150 or so. :D


They pay about $7 hour to start, dependent upon your experience in whatever department you're applying for.

anybody know how old you have to be to work there? a new one just opened in Delaware and they are suppose to be hiring, just wondering if it's worth it for me to find that number again....

I was going to mention that they drug test. Lame.

But, if you are clean, good luck on the job. You can probably get some cool stuff for cheap while you work there.

I don't think they give an employee discount. I asked a guy I know that used to work there (last year).

I worked at Home Depot for a few years. There is no employee discount and Home Depot usually pays more than other retail jobs. It was a good job, but I got tired of dealing with customers.

Denying a job to someone that might toke on a joint a couple nights each month is lame. I don't see them asking to search your computer for warez, seeing if you speed at night, or steal cars. Going to work high should be punished by termination, don't get me wrong. But singling out something by drug use because it's illegal is just wrong. There is a very fuzzy line between perscribed and over the counter drugs and illegal drugs. Especially when you consider the legality of alcohol and tabacco. But really, I think it's lame that they test for something you can enjoy at night without it hampering job performance.

I'm not sure it would make a difference... have you ever asked any employee a question at that store? If so, have you ever received a satisfactory answer?

I suppose they need to be able to trust the cashier though.

what do you care about what we do in our spare times? as long as we do the job damn well ^_^

i hear home depot pays something like 12/hour

i just drove my friend to his Home Depot interview a week ago, he got the job. easier than cake he said, although he was worried about the drug test.

he only smokes out very occaisionally, and unfortunately for him that happened to be 2 days before his interview. on top of that, his entire house smokes big time so he's around smoke consistently. the drug tests are incredibly lame, they only work to filter out the very bottom rung of druggies. there are products available that let you pass them without a problem. He went to our local smoke shop (another lovely attribute of college towns), Blazin' J's, the day before, and picked up a bottle of stuff for about $24. it guarantees triple your money back if it fails. basically it pumps your urine of concentrated vitamins and you pass. this why i say it filters out only the bottom rung, pretty much anyone can pick a bottle of this stuff up, anyone else probably doesn't care enough to get the job.


NeuroSynapsis - he's getting paid $12/hr.

I'm definately thinking of getting a job here over the summer...i could really use an outdoor job with a lot of lifting involved.

Please learn where products are kept in the store..........so that you dont give the "deer in the headlights" look to anyone looking for help. Thats right before you (the employee) goes the other direction.
