I went option #2. It was easy. Sure it hurts a bit but it's not as bad as some people like to bitch about. And I was knocked out years ago for some other unrelated oral surgery and that sucks. The hangover from the general is worse than the pain itself. That's why I chose to stay awake when I had my wisdom teeth removed.

i went with wake. faster recovery. plus i've never felt pain during conscious tooth removal. had a buncha baby molars taken out by evil british dentists as a child to boot. only drilling has potential for pain in my experience.

and my lowers even had to be uncovered by a mini buzz saw after cutting flaps trhough the gums. the teeth had not yet erupted. a tad scary, but i felt nothing. it was so fast i didn't knw what had happened. much unlike painful dentistry like fillings.

I did it awake. Fun hearing them crack the teeth into many pieces then pulling each one out.

Hang Over? I had my wisdom teeth taken out, and I went the sleep route. AFter I was done, i did not have any hangover of any type. Yeah, it hurts when the novacaine wears off, but as long as you keep pressure on the hole(s), it dulls the pain alot. I would imagine that the pain id the same even you they do it if you are awake.

You could do it like I had it done when I was 7 years old and in India. The bastard "dentist" just grabbed a pair of pliers and ripped one of my front teeth out! One of the most traumatizing things ever.
