I am about to purchase a new computer as a very large upgrade going from a P3 733mhz.

This is the CPU + MOBO:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAP...em=5132094277&rd=1

after this, I intend to stick in parts from my old computer, which is a
radeon 128mb 8500LE
40 gig HD IDE

My question is that how will a high-end CPU perform with a low-end video card?
and also i am looking at one stick of Corsair Value Select 512MB. and going to add another one later for DC.
Would this ram be good? or should i be looking into another type that is good for no overclocking?

I also plan to NOT overclock anything and leave it as a stock system.

If i could recieve any suggestions/advice, then :D

I have this combo. Your low end vid card will hold you back tremendously. If you cannot fork out for something very pricy, get a 9800pro.

See my signature for a description of my system.

The graphics card listed in there has not arrived yet, so I'm temporarily using nVidia TNT2 M64. :D 2D performance is excellent, except for some slowness when opening the start menu. Obviously, it won't work properly when running 3D games, but for now I don't plan to play any games anyway. Exams are coming up. ;_;

My point: a (very) slow graphics card works perfectly fine on a very fast CPU. ;)

Squally, have you tried to to actually play any games with your TNT2? I imagine my 128mb 8500LE would play the game, but the quality wont be so great. is that correct?

It should play the games but not very well. 640x480 and lowest settings for sure on all the new games. Even at those settings it won't perform very well.
