i read a while ago something about the placement of 2x RAM sticks when you have x4 slots, but don't remember the conclusion. i have an epox 9npa+ultra and 2x 1GB sticks of OCZ value ram - the MB has 4x slots, 2 purple, 2 black; my main question is does it matter if the RAM is in the first slot of each colored pair or is it best to have both RAM sticks in the same color zone? the bios settings put my RAM default in 2T (best performance settings) and i had them originally in the purple slots, but i moved one stick to a different colored slot and changed it to 1T and noticed a big difference in bootup time.

another thing i'm curious about is that i have an X2 4200 i'm about to OC and i noticed that it displays as 2.21 GHz in windows, and i haven't changed any settings. it's been my experience that processors usually display their stock GHz exactly, is it possible the default bios are doing a tiny "OC" or is that just normal nowadays/nowadays for AMD? (i've mostly dealt with pentiums up till now)

edit: and does anyone know if my MB's 1+2 sata ports are locked, or know how i could find out?

They should be in the same color zone, otherwise dual-channel won't be enabled.

As far as the 2.21GHz, it's nothing to worry about. An extra 10MHz never killed anyone. :D
