Unreal series have lost its touch , its only living on high end graphic now. Also Sony fan are just over hyping it to death now since it coming to PS3. The game will suck on the PS3 controller. It doesn't look FPS friendly as the xbox controller did. Trying to FPS on PLatsystation 2 controller was horrible but in xbox it was playable. But both where the level of Keyboard and mouse. But I could play any FPS on XBOX/XBOX360. anyways UT was one of the best mutliplayer game in 2000. Well i am not a fan of very fast pace FPS anymore. I like UT2000, BF1942 , DOD , DOD Source , HL 1 Science and iNdustry mod and RTCW:ET.

Out of those choices, definitely Far Cry.

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/chron...k/index.html?q=riddick%20escape%20from
its better than doom 3 , HL 2 , FEAR , FARCRY :! got awesome storyline

Its also under rated :(

I'm waiting for the copy I got off ebay to arrive. It does look better than most of the big name titles from the reviews I've seen.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is another one worth looking at. It's easily the best singleplayer game I have played in the last two years.

@ HardWarrior
Thats why I modified the firmware in my Lite-On drive to read DVD's at 16x (wicked fast). Install takes a matter of minutes :p (and I know you were joking)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shouldn't this be in the Software section?

Anyway, Riddik is a GOOD game. If your PC can't handle it, you can always get if for the xbox (which is were I first played/beat it). Probably one of (if not the only) GOOD/BEST movie game ever (and most definitly better than ET for the Atari ;))

HL2, Doom3, Quake 4, FEAR, CS:S, BF2, and all the classics are all good games. Play em in any order you want. Either way, you'll be happy :D

Whuh? :Q You missed my point. Both of my Memorex DL DVD drives does 16x out of the box. I think it's cool that I don't have to load multiple DVD's to install a game.

PS2 had keyboard/mouse for FPS games, I'm sure ps3 will have it as well.

And lastly how the fvck can you judge a product that isn't even out yet?

FEAR . . .

it has the "atmosphere" D3 lacks

i am about halfway thru [i guess] . . . LOVE the AI [for a change]

for me . . . next will be Q4 . . .

Finished SeriousSam2 [$20 bargain bin now]. . . a 'parody' of the first two with good gfx and awesome foes and weapons . . . it's waiting for a Second Encounter :p

BTW, if you haven't yet played 'Chronicles of Riddick', it is NOT to be missed

Hows that X850XT handle it?

Doom III looked and ran good at 8x6
HL2 looked and ran ok at 12x10
but FEAR does get choppy

FEAR runs fluidly at 10x7 with everything 'on' and 'hi' and 'max' - except Soft Shadows.

i can run Loast Coast at 10x9 . . .

. . . and i won't intall D3 again for any reason . . . it ran fine on my 9800xt at 10x7
[well, i bought D3 it's first week of release, finished it and sold it in the same week :disgust:]

myx850xt will easily do PE+ speeds [550/614] . . .but i keep it stock.

and again Chronicles of Riddick . . . is easily the best game of '04 . . . much better than the Riddick movies . . . . uses the same actors [Vin Diesel] for voice acting with a GREAT story . . . they almost reinvent the FPS
:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks!

Riddick does sound good. But as I already own the other 3 games I'll probably play them first.

However if I find Riddick in the bargain bin.........

You will . . . it has been Sub$20 for sometime now . . . play the others first - just do NOT forget 'Riddick' . . . it is 'gem' in a sea of flawed FPSes.

and i am looking forward to Q4 . . . but i[ am STILL waiting for Bloodlines & KotOR II to be 'bargain bin'.

EDIT:
Doom III looked and ran good at 8x6
HL2 looked and ran ok at 12x10
but FEAR does get choppy

is this on your 9600xt? . . . FEAR probably runs at 4x8 best . . . my 9800xt barely managed 10x7 with some mid details and a couple of options off.

FEAR is a really nice looking game that suffers from Sierra disease, the idea we all want to shoot a whole lot of soldiers.

I like Q4 best of what's mentioned.

i guess some of prefer to shoot a whole lot of demons
"Boo!' - kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill . . . Use us

the variety in FEAR is lacking . . . but at the least it has excellent enemy AI
[unlike D3 scripted events and banal gameplay] :p

i'd love to see System Shock2 completely remade . . . and Thief IV . . . but then i am gettin sick of sequels

AND i'd really like to see something 'fresh' . . . last 'innovative' FPS game like that was "Riddick'

and OP, you might also post this in Games/SW . . . whole 'nother audience ;)

I did read System Shock 3 is being made :),as to Doom 3, I was dissapointed with the game,Quake 4 was miles better and is what Doom 3 should of been.

Thanks for all the great input guys!

I went with Far Cry as it's a lot different from Doom or HL2 for that matter. Plus it's the easiest of the 3 on my box.

good choice . . . the gameplay is outstanding - unfortunately, the cutscenes, plot and voice acting are crap. . . . and you need a 'hack' for anytime save [it gets really hard at the end]

9600xt? . . . HL2 should be easier on your system than FC. . . .

try search in SW- "far Cry" or maybe "anytime save" . . . it has been too long for me . . . not in my bookmarks or memory . . . it's a pretty easy edit and generally works pretty well [although the AI won't always save correctly]

it is a beautiful game with excellent gameplay that more than makes up for its other weak elements.

FEAR would be pretty hard on your XT.
