So I will need a new battery for my 2 plus years old Motorola Q9C cell phone. Sprint, my provider, would sell me one with a charger for about $50.

I am looking at eBay now and two sellers (both are power sellers) are selling brand new OEM battery for $5 shipped with payment via Paypal.

Seller 1 = http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-BT90-Extend...860210?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2c58a66272

Seller 2 = http://cgi.ebay.com/F-MOTOROLA-BT90...444923?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19b278d1fb

I never done business with eBay seller(s) before. I have an account with eBay but never sell or buy anything yet.

Any advises/guidances on how to get the best deal out of eBay and watch out for pitfalls? TIA.

Edit: No saying anything about those two sellers (never done business with them). I just picked them out of the search list.

OMG, I hope you survive and not lose your house, car and every other possession you own if you're scammed out of that 5 dollars.

Cheap batteries = most likely fake = good chance of ruining your phone.

But I wouldn't worry about such an old phone that much...

He's worried about paying 5 dollars and getting ripped off. I'm sure he treasures his phone.

I haven't had a problem with ebay batteries. My iPhone 3G has one, so does my mothers, my little sister's messaging phone, and my dads samsung blackjack.

They are all around $5 - $10 and took 3 weeks to come in from china.

Do you have any REAL information to back up your statements?

As a buyer, you have little to worry about since ebay will back you up regardless if you make a claim.

Just make sure you read and understand the auction so you don't get scammed. Like some will say selling the box off xxx item, and they will list it for a bit cheaper then the going auctions of the actual item in hope of someone buying it thinking they got a good deal and instead they simply bought a box.

OP: You will be fine. Pay with paypal using a CC and not your debit card. Don't store your card info if you want to be triple safe.

Personal experience. Everyone I know that has gotten one has either had the battery die quickly or fry the phone. It's happened to me, coworkers, friends and family members. I'm sure if you spend a minute or two on google you will find similar stories.

I will never buy a cheapo battery. You'll either get a few months of decent talk time before the battery lasts an hour or it will literally ruin your phone.

LOL, to clarify = I am NOT worry about the $5.

I just don't want to waste my time (the battery is about to die very soon) to buy something that will not work (fake/old item/etc.) on my old phone or getting screw out of Paypal/bank account (from the horror stories I read/hear). I know I should get a new phone but I am month to month (out of contract) and I am not ready to get another 2 years on my neck.

Just want to hear from personal experience from eBay sellers/buyers with years of dealing with eBay.

Kaotick and Rudeguy, thanks. At least my threat is not in vain.

1stBitch, why you said that? I never sell or buy anthing from eBay before.

Do you have a XT size battery door?

Yes.

Everything is working fine. Just want a new "oversize" battery to make this phone works for a while.

SERO for $30/month with 500 minutes and unlimit of everything else is hard to beat plus no more contract = main reason that I keep this old phone.

Overheat and/or leak.

I'd be willing to bet that 99.99999% of the cheap batteries out there are cheap Chinese knock offs.

Newbie eBay question. ....Even when they stated that their batteries are brand new OEM as the links in my OP? Would that against eBay policy or fraudulant?

Yup. I would only purchase ones that were brand new OEM batteries, and they always were crap. Luckily only one of my phones was killed by them and it wasn't an expensive phone. The rest just gave out in less than 6 months.. couldn't keep a phone powered for more than a few hours. They all look real with hologram logos and everything so good luck trying to prove fraud.

Now I just get extras when Verizon has a 50% off coupon. That along with my corp discount makes them pretty cheap.

Yes. If you receive the product and it's not OEM you can file a claim and get your money back.

preslove, what is your problem? Mods, is that trolling or what?

Wait, this is a serious thread? I thought you were just a really sophisticated, ironic troll.

You question is ridiculous. You posted $5 batteries, sold by people with 99% positive feedback & thousands of sales? You are actually, 100% srsly asking if those are scams?????

I hope to god that you're from sub-Saharan Africa and have recently immigrated to the USA, and only now gotten on the internet.
