In my 25 years of owning multiple boats & jet skis I have yet to break a $1000. Gas is another story. Current fleet is a pontoon boat, bass boat, sea doo spx & yamaha wave runner.
My boat shows up today. Took far longer than buying a car.
Oh and our new pier showed up yesterday. That was a bitch unloading off the semi truck. 120 pounds per pier section and I have 8 of them (in additional to all of the hardware).
Weather today: Chance of thunderstorms all day long. Typical.
I'll post some pictures once I get the pier installed and the boat in the water.
Consider yourself incredibly lucky. Last year, my water pump started dripping. Well, slightly more than a drip. I thought it was just the impeller & I can replace that in half an hour for under $50. But, the mechanic who serviced our boat (fuel filter, lower unit, oil change, etc.) said it wasn't the impeller; the whole pump had to be replaced. The part is nearly $500.
Fortunately, it was a new mechanic working at a marina I *used to* trust. But after he left tools in our boat, accidentally pulled spark plug wires loose while changing the fuel filter, and FORGOT to tighten the clamps on the water hose after examining our water pump (I now know how much water those pumps are capable of pushing through - a lot!), I'm clinging to hope that he's as big an idiot that I thought (well, he is) - and that I can fix it myself.
