Hey and Hi
My question is for those of you that saw this flick (great flick). Did 'Catherine Zeta Jones' know all along about her husbands involvment in selling drugs?

I thought that she didn't but at work today I started thinking about this flick (I saw it last night) and it seemed like to me that she was up on everything WITH her husband.

Even though in the first 1/2 of the flick it appeared she was cluless. I mean she went into Mexico and spoke with the druglords and showed them the **doll-like** drugs.

Some friends at work think that she was cluless and some think she knew exactly what was going on....I think that she knew, what do you think ?:confused::confused:

she was clueless and then her husband clued her in from what i recall. Then she decided to survive she would have to take over the business temporarily.

Nope, her hursband's lawyer clues her in, but who cares... she was clueless until someone tells her.

I wonder if I'm the only one who thought this movie was above-average, at best :)

I thought that she was cluless but the way that she went into Mexico and talked about the drugs it was like all of a sudden she was an expert....

Not just street-smart, although she was raised in the street!!!

P.S. my boo-boo, I meant Michael Douglas :)

I don't think it was that impressive.

Benecino Del Toro (sp) deserved the award he won for it. He did an excellent job. Other than that it wasn't anything fantastic. In fact I found it rather depressing.

I really don't think it had any insights to what the war on drugs is like...it was just designed to evoke an emotional response through that little herion addict girl.

yup, her hubby gives her access to the microfilms.. and i guess she learned the rest from there:p

well i think the point was to show how we are attacking the war on drugs in the wrong way. Fighting a "war" on drugs is futile. one must deal with the demand, not supply. it showed how that black drug cop is trapped into what he knows is a futile job.

I just rented the movie today. I think she did not have any idea that her husband was bring drugs into the country. It was her huby and the lawyer that clued her in.

So what was the story with the weird color shifts? Ok I figured out that there was a sandy tinge to the film when they where in Mexico but was did the blue represent? Some time when they where in the US the film was a normal color while other times it was blue.

I found the movie interesting but it really did not bring out my emotions and I'm an emotional guy. I even shed some tears when I say Pearl Harbor last week .

had some questions about this movie too. seemed like there were 3 separate storylines one had to follow with each storyline/perspective having its own color scheme. benecio de toro's story had a dirty yellow hue to it, catherine zeta jones story had a bright sunny color and michael douglas' story had a blue hue to it. weird how the main characteres rarely had any scenes together. oh, one more question. when the fbi agent plants the bug at the end of the movie, was catherine zeta's character in on it? seemed like she was plotting against her husband to take over the business.

hmm i doubt it. i think that scene just shows how zealous the cop had become.. he wanted revenge:p even worse since he knew how hopeless his job was.

i figure that bug woulda been found within a day or whatever, the other lawyer refers to having his apartment swept for bugs i think..so security should be tight.

eh, i'm not buying it. I think they will have a special edition come out soon:p I just borrowed my friends. This version has no commentary, deleted scenes etc.. all it has is a promo kinda thing, which is almost as bad as nothing. plus, its not labeled special ed...making it almost a sure bet a better ver will be out.

Yup, i grabbed the DVD too... I guess it's priced so cheap (I paid $20 CDN...about $13 US) because it doesn't really have any special features.

Sweet movie btw.

I bought it too. (22$ can. I think) I think it was last year's best movie.

Catherine Zeta-Jones' character had no idea that her husband was bringing drugs in, I thought that was pretty clear in the movie.

yeah! exactly, and this is why I thought that she was cluless to his doings **but** when she went to Mexico and walked right on in and brought in the dope she was at that point at least to me in the big leagues...not a rookie, and had been doing that for some time.

why buy when there's div... (oops... did I just say that out loud?)
well, I buy my own DVDs so I can have my own library of DVDs. To watch on my 46" HDTV :) I like
the luxury of having my own flicks to watch at any given time.

So far I only have about 45-50.

course they can always fall back on her character being street smart..and a desperate mother to boot:p if her husband was the only one developing the next gen smuggling method, the ppl he hired probably brought her up to speed:p

and yea, divx..bleh:p its ok quality, but on a hdtv with surround it won't cut it:p plus its missing extra features. besides the fact that its also stealing.....:p divx is for portability.. like on laptops.. thats where it really kicks ass:) but only due to the limitation of current hardware.
