Link to Android on touchpad? I want to install it ASAP and havent seen anything

Why? Do you have any experience with Android tabs? I like them, but WebOS 3.0 is far far superior.... If you know JScript and CSS you could write your own apps no issue. Development is much easier than iOS and Android.

If you watched HD videos you wouldnt need to ask that question. At 4-9GB each you can clearly see the advantage of more space.
Even better would be a whole season of a TV series.

What are you? 10 years old?

Wow, this forum has really gone to shit lately.

It really has. You have idiots giving stupid opinions and calling a device useless, when they have absolutely no first hand / hands-on knowledge on the product.

I mean really? How productive is it to come into a thread just to crap in it and troll? I don't think the OP asked your opinion on if the device was useful to you personally. He asked why a person would need more space. So I'd say you are spot on. Good call there.

I think it's obvious someone is sour grapes because they paid $400 for a tablet and now a ton of people are getting them for under $100.

I'd disagree if Hulu hadn't smashed the HP Touchpad from playing their content :( I was just watching Wilfred last night! Today "sry device not supported" fucks! Guess I'll just have to borrow my buddies HBO Go account. I'm just hoping I don't have to hax it to run Android to watch Netflix. We'll see in a couple weeks.

Wow, really? WTF. Why would Hulu all the sudden block the Touchpad?

They do it for all the other tablets....

Other tablets can't run flash 720p full screen without jitters either, at least from my testing. Full fledged web browser without a 3g card, it's effectively a personal computer not a mobile device, so why? GREED!!! lols fucking media companies are jokes.

Mainly because of uninformed opinions like yours. Name me another device priced $100-$150 that can do what this can.

If it had 4g I'd use Hulu and Netflix. As such there arent enough open wifi spots for all day movie viewing and 3g isnt nearly as fast as it needs to be for good video.

It's a $400 device that's getting blown out for $100, of course it's going to be a good value. If the iPad 2 suddenly went on sale for $200 tomorrow there would be riots in the streets, and ecommerce would collapse under the strain of people trying to get them.

Honestly, after playing with this 32GB, I can say it's probably worth ~$250. It's decent, I really like it after the updates, fixes, and OC, but it's not an iPad 2, by any stretch.

That's kind of our point. That's what we're trying to tell the other guy.

If I can do everything through one applications, the web browser, why do I need a ton of specialized apps bloating down my storage? Derp a der.

Calm down lad, and let's come on back to earth. I like the touchpad browser.. It's nifty. However, I can't use the web browser to play great graphics intensive games, or glance at a useful widget on my home screen, or watch streaming movies from Netflix.... The device is surely capable... But it never got the support it really needed to take off. As of now this lack of support truly makes it an inferior tablet... Not $99 inferior... But certainly $350ish inferior.

Picked up mine yesterday evening at BB and I can see what folks are talking about when they refer to needed support and follow-up. I'm trying to get that 3.0.2 68 update but I'm getting the "can't be found, try later' response. I hope hp doesn't shut down those servers.

I'm really glad now I didn't spend more than I did. In fact I can see why peeps are buying the 16GB model. I never tried out a tablet let alone a supported tablet well past its 1st version like the iPad. I do think the TP can have a future if... yada yada.

I need to find a forum that's dedicated to the hp TouchPad with subgroups of noob, intermediate and expert--any come to mind?

there are some great guides to tweaking and updating out there.... You will find everything you need including how to update quickly with webOS doctor at forums.precentral.net. Makes unimaginable difference in the way this thing performs.

Don't bother trying to do the updates from their servers -- it just keeps timing out, presumably because they're getting hammered. Check out the Precentral forums and also the thread in Hot Deals for tweaking instructions and steps you can use to download the latest update on your PC and then load it on the Touchpad via USB. MUCH faster and less frustrating.

Are there sites with apps for this for sideloading? Is there a kindle app for it?

There's a patch that will allow the Touchpad to use hulu. Works great. Just changes ID to be Windows instead of Mobile.

You should consider loading preware onto your Touchpad. It will fix up some annoyances and make the tablet faster and smoother overall.

There's a link to do all of this. It's either in the other Touchpad thread or in the hot deals thread.

Today I tried out playing a movie on my TP. I used my desktop pc with DVDFab to rip an old classic movie but ripped it using the iPad setting with fine-tuning to 1024x768 and with the sound set at 200%. It plays just great. Most rips create ~0.5GB/hour of video.

If only Netflix.

BTW, I use a few Java (.jar) programs but I haven't yet had the time to find a Java RTE for webOS.
