Will I be able to run older games if I decide to get an Athlon 64 X2? I'm asking this because I read of problems people have with these processors and older games. If I want to play older games, should I go for an Athlon 64 X2, upgrade to a 4000+, get a Pentium 4 with HT technology, or keep my 3500+?

I have to set the affinity to a single core for a few (very few) old games (otherwise there are timing issues), but that's pretty much it. They run fine after doing that. If you already have a 3500+, you're not really hurting for CPU speed (unless you do a lot of heavy video encoding or other such CPU-intensive work), but whenever you do decide to go for the dual core, old games shouldn't be much of a problem.

I don't do any video encoding. All I do is play games and surf the web.
