hi, just a stupid question, would my PCI cards work in the PCI-express slots? how about AGP cards?

No, PCI-E is not backwards compatible. However, durring the transition to PCI-E most motherboards will include both PCI and PCI-E slots.

And AGP cards will not work in a PCI-E slot.

Thanks Yomicron for answering.

How about PCI-X? I found that newer scsi cards from adaptec are using PCI-X. would these PCI-X cards work on PCI-Express slots? would they work on regular PCI slots? or they only work on their PCI-X slots which is rarely seen for regular motherboards.

Correct..

And i would expect to have PCI slots on the boards for at least 2 years.. Even one slot. There are too many people with pre built systems...That wouldn't want to do the overhaul..

PCI-X is not compatible with PCI Express either. Generally you only see PCI-X slots and cards in server class systems.
