Hey friends,

I have some memory that I need to return to Newegg... now I know they charge you 15 % restocking fee, however, this memory was $300 and even 15 % means almost 50 bucks. So I was curious if I could call them up, and speak with them and if they would not charge me 15 % restocking fee if I get another RAM for the same price? I am guessing not, but I wanna try my chance. Any ideas?

No... what do they have to gain from doing that? They know that you're going to have to return it, and they make $50 off that (plus their original profit)... Plus the profit from whatever new RAM you're also going to buy from them. They have no reason to treat you special. Now if you called them up and said "This is J.R. Rocketface from EDS... I'm looking to purchase memory upgrades for our 14,000 computers, but the example I purchase...." yada yada yada.

ah well, you never know do you? I may not be buying memory for 14,000 computers but when an individual has built more than 15 PCs with parts purchased from Newegg in the past, I thought they might be nice.

Either way, thanks for the input.

I have called the Egg about returns and they waived the 15%. I suppose you should just try...

darn dude just chill... :)

i mean stuff happens, when you are friendly enough to people, wonders happen... it's not relative, but i have this friend, toekramp who has a cellular plan with nextel. when he got his plan, he had like 800 anytime minutes. so after a couple phonecalls, he got all extra services + doubled his anytime minutes to 1600 for the same initial price. you just gotta be friendly and keep trying.

greets,

xiety

Those newegg dudes always treat me right. Maybe it's because I buy thousands of dollars worth of stuff from them each year but I still got a nice feel today when my RMA'd RAM showed up after a couple weeks. It was a $45.50 stick they sent back when I sent back a $30 stick, but it was lifetime guarantee!

These dudes rock.

thanks for the input guys. I think I will try calling them on Monday morning (after 10 a.m. PSFT though :D , they are awefully busy during rush hours). :) I think newegg will probably show their class as I will be buying a more expensive product than the one that I want to return.
