? about need for thermal past and AMD 500mhz processor

Hi I just put together a little first system for a friend. I replaced the 300 MHz AMD processor with a 500 MHz version. They are the standard AMD K6-2 500 MHz Processor. No overclocking. I didn't know about the thermal paste thing and thus didn't apply any. Do I need to get some and install it before giving it to him?

assuming you have at least a normal sized hsf you will be just fine

K6-2's ran/run hot. I would use thermal compound in your situation.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will probably go ahead and try to find some locally and put it on there. Better to be safe than sorry!
