I have searched around havent found an anwer yet. Im wanting a headset with mic to use while gaming. Price range 60 and under. I have seen the recommendations from the other threads etc. I already have 5.1 surround speakers that im happy with for gaming.

Question is : can i get a headset with mic and use it like the one for xbox live....where voice chat comes thru headset and game sounds thru desktop speakers??? I need to be able to hear my wife talking to me etc . will be using ventrilo/ TS etc. If so, do i need usb or 3.5 plug??
 
Got it to work the way I wanted. Bought cheapo mono headset with mic and plugged that into my onboard audio. under options in TS/Vent, set it to use on board audio. kept surround speakers running as normal off of my soundblaster card. now i just need to find a better headset.
