About Dan's assimilation

Hehe.. I locked myself in in my own room... but I have beer, and chips... so I'll fix this problem later on 😉

Edit --> It's Hertog Jan.. the brand (beer) I prefer...

I abit OT but I would personally kick their asses (and if I were american, sue them) if I found out that someone was compromising the stability of my clusters with something like rc5 ..

postman - maybe i'm not understanding you correctly....but isn't that what he's checking? "Burn-in" for checking stability?

It's OK, B.K. -
A lot of people LIKE the thought of putting a business critical server online that hasn't been load-tested... 😀

there is no point to RC5 anymore, the point now is to smash the DPC's and get the #1 spot. Go for it Dan.

I hope you don't fun of serious thing. dnetc is not by any standards a stress test to a server as it just uses the cpu cycles. And if you are only installing it for a short period of time, what's the point?

Installing and using dnetc on a mission-critical server prevents the use of likes of HP ITO as one can't monitor the server load. Allso there are the issues with MS SQL-server and dnetc and bunch of other stuff. As a (ex)sysadmin I never ever installed dnetc to a server, only to workstations not in important use.

If I'm being thick here and don't see the joke all the better 🙂, but I just hope you know what you are doing.

mmm... uh - yeah, right. We run it all the time with SQL, clustering, storage works arrays, etc.. in the lab. The client is rock-solid. If you don't understand the need for testing at 100% CPU load, well...

Anyway, who's for Trout and puffy things?

Eek, you run it? Grande cohonas there I say. But seriously mere dnetc is just pathethic on a stress test. Where is the strain on i/o subsystems?

oy veh -

No one said it was run exclusively, no one said it was run on production servers. Read the post. TESTING - BURN IN...

If I delivered an entire treatise on server testing, and thus gave you all the information about how we do what we do, you'd be working for me wouldn't you?

Trout are such noble fish... especially the Rainbow. They break the water in a slashing attack on whatever they choose to snarf down. It's refreshingly relaxing to watch them.

We would like to thank you for dropping in to share your thoughts with us. DPC is always welcome here! 🙂

Edit - Russ took one of my trout

DSmarty> Lighten up! 🙂 It aint over till the fat lady sings.
We overcame an impossible gap to the top of the dailies, we overcame the PhF, i'm sure we'll assimilate our @sses out of this one too.
And if we don't.. hell, we tried the best we could. And possibly did a lot of good for Dnet, since we might have given DanC the push he needed to pull this off. <insert evil grin>

I'm sure noone would complain if any of our members had this kind of opportunity, I for sure wouldn't hesitate for one second 🙂

DanC> Congrats with what possibly is 'every crackheads dream' (with pain in my heart 🙂)
Ow, and yes, I did << notice I STILL don't go to GOT and make posts? >> , but only because you keep saying that. You are welcome on our board, as all TA members are. The fact that you don't doesn't mean anything, so stop whining.

<< i'm sure we'll assimilate our @sses out of this one too. >>

Now, that is the attitude of a winner!😀 That's the DPCs we love!

Russ, NCNE

Here are some more stats on Dan's huge assimilation. Assuming he does one datacenter a week and his stress testing lasts 5 days. He would do 1.2 million blocks a day for 80 weeks (excluding weekends). After he is finished he would have completed .7% of the keyspace.

Assuming he did 500 million RC5 workunits, he would have done 12 times the amount of work as the tortise (the current leader) and more done than any team right now.

If your were to assume a 6 hour seti workunit time (I have no idea how accurate this is with 700 mhz pentium IIIs) by the time he was done he would do 3.2 million work units.

Assuming he did OGR25 and the stubs averaged 100 gnodes, he would do 3.3 million stubs which is about 27% of the total number of OGR25 stubs.

3.2 Million seti WU's!!!!!
oh crap... thats a lot...
More then any other team.... by almost a million...
Come on Dan... just a few of them?
A little bump for TA seti?
you could just do one data center, and that would be enough to put us in the top 10...

That's the attitude PinBall! 🙂 Cool sportsmanship!

I was thinking, this burnin of the datacentre servers, is it realistic to assume in our calculations that RC5 would get 100% CPU cycles all the time?

Dsmarty: "Zapzilla --> Why do you participate? Do you want to crack the code asap, or do you like the competition, and the lovely stats?"

I think having 100,000,000 blocks after my name you be a very lovely stat.

If this were boxing, would you let your opponent hit you as much as you hit him or would you want to put him down as quickly as possible and end the fight?

Besides...this wouldn't be the end to Dnet. It would just be the end of Rc5. there is still OGR which is run on the same client. A new arena to do battle in. Also there are tons of other DC projects.

It's great to see so much cpu-power can be used for cracking RC5 😀

Too bad it will ruin the competition. 🙁
But since every 1 here wants you to go on with it, then go on with it.
U will find out whats going to happen when u let those cpu's crack for a while.

@ first: WHoooooohoooooooooooooo, were going fast!!
Then: Hmmm 🙂() he's on #1 evry day!
After that: Grrrrr.......no more competition, i'm going to quit, or do some other project.

Now u will think, what a sucker, he just says this because he's with the DPC's.
Then i can assure you this, i don't say this because i'm with the DPC's, i say this on behalf of the competition.
It's the same thing as the "Subteam-incident".

Try it out, assimilate those computers, then u can find out for yourself what will happen.
In theory evrything seems impossible, u have to experience it for real.

DanC: Good luck on your operation 🙂
Trash the / !!!! 😛

Goingin - I doubt that would happen, its not the first time that we have had a MEGA-CRACKER on the team, Mander, the cracking god, used to have a massive keyrate and we never got bored of it 😉
