When you hear a siren while driving, if your first move isn't 'locate the siren relative to my own car so I can get out of the way,' you are a bad driver. Since one must divert their eyes from the road to do this, it is dangerous.

Just because you've become so conditioned to hearing sirens on the radio that your first move is 'oh wait, is this coming from a radio?' doesn't mean it's not a stupid thing to allow. People hear sirens, they look for lights, which is the whole point. If there's no actual siren to be found, people will check their entire surroundings, which is a lot of time not looking at the road.

And let's not hear about Darwinism, when it comes to driving far too many complete bystanders bite the bullet for the stupidity of others.

It's a shame what people are willing to put up with. Commercials annoy the shit out of me, so if I happen to be watching something on TV (rare already due to mostly annoying programming) I will mute the TV during commercial breaks. It doesn't require an act of congress, just the press of a button.
