in a lot of ways i agree. its lost a lot of its bite. but i still enjoy it in many ways as well.

What's wrong with Anand making some money? He has to pay big bucks for the bandwith that we all consume. Do you pay him any $$ for using his servers and bandwith? Thought not.

If it turns into all spam, then Anand knows that everyone will split. That is not the way to make money. Advertizing is a necesary evil. Sorry that the adds annoy you so much.

And no, I am not a Mod or anything, just a guy who like sit here. And someone who pays to come here (Subscriber) Please don't let the door hit you on the way out.

well, i agree with the advertising, it's really the only way to make money with a web site. But there are other, more popular sites (like hardocp, for example), that don't seem to need to charge for subscriptions. How much more money from advertising can kyle make over anand? I'd imagine the numbers are pretty close. And I think there are more members at hardocp, but I may be wrong. In my opinion, its the members like us who bring people to the site, who answer questions, offer solutions, etc... The more members, the more advertising revenue...

what I meant was the 2 locked posts.

The link at the top of the page from Crucial could say; 5% extra off for anand tech orders or something in the banner.

But is it right to have it as a locked post???
especially when there are better deals and this is the hot deal forum?

Where do you draw the line?

and if you want to get into how much it costs him for bandwidth etc..
he gets his servers and all his other parts for free to make the equiptment he uses.
I test too and I know how much stuff that is free actually gets to him.

Btw, yeah, I think the post should be unlocked, but think about it, there'd only be:

The owner of this board has the right to do anything. I don't feel uncomfortable for the Crucial 15% off for anandtech members being locked at the top. Crucial is one of the best memory and has good price, there is nothing wrong for anandtech to promote this particular brand to members.
