Aborted partition of a hdd

I need to fix a laptop that cannot boot and has data on harddrive. The partitioning of a harddrive got stuck so only way to get out of it was to shut down the computer and turn it back on. But now the computer won't start, nor let me install windows without formating of it. How can I hook up the laptop hdd to computer to retrieve files, if possible. What do you suggest? :/

Ah this only supports up to 100GB, I think the laptop is 120GB.

Nvm it's 80. HDD2D32
Toshiba 80GB 9.5MM SATA/150 5400 RPM 8MB CACHE BUFFER LAPTOP HARD DRIVE
So that will be compatible, right?

You could also just boot off a live knoppix CD and transfer the files to an external or USB drive

Downloading KNOPPIX_V5.1.1CD-2007-01-04-EN, I guess I just burn it into a cd and just boot it on the laptop.

Damnit does not work. It says Loading AGP module, and after that is complete nothing happens, you can just type in commands.

I got 2.5" external enclosure. I connected it to my computer but it is not accessible. "G:\ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." So at this point, what can I do? Any resonable recovery programs I can use?

You got it, get yourself a data recovery suit and hope you can retreive your data. You can find alot of good recovery programs at Download.com and get some good reviews on them at cnet.
