oops sorry hit enter by accident
anyway the second site lists problems and possible cures and the first is another forum on via
here is a quote from one (latest drivers from VIA's website or Viahardware.com)
and last here is more than you wanted
--You folks are whimps, and should buy a Dell or something..
--Yea, it took about 2 weeks of tinkering to set up, but thats typical of VIA chipsets
--YOu need the LATEST VIA drivers, and the Microsoft patch for USB and VIA chipsets and Win 98se (figure out 2000 for yourself) and real ALL the FAQ's, and PAY ATTENTION to IRQ problems and how to fix them
--and almost ALL the problems that I have had are related to the SOUND BLASTER vs 3COM NIC vs the Lexmark software when it was on LPT1
--KT7-RAID
--T'bird 800
--Globalwin heatsink and fan
--Antec 282 / pp303x 300w power supply
--2x case fans
--2x, 128, PC133, CAS2 (mushkin)
--2x-Maxtor 20gig, DiamondMax Plus 40 ATA100 hds, in RAID array (boot device)
--1x-Maxtor 20gig, 5400 rpm DMA66 hd on IDE0 (GHOST copy of the RAID array, for DISK COPY and emergency system restore)
--1x UDMA33-44x cdrom
--1x 2.2.24 CDrw/rw (S&F)
--ATI Tv-wonder PCI v200 software
--ATI Rage Fury 8663 drivers (earlier release, latest won't work, read Abit FAQ's)
--Creative SoundBlaster Live
--3COM Base10t NIC, (for DSL)
--Etech, PCI winmodem (speakerphone/FAX)
--Acer 620u USB scanner
--Lexmark Z51, using USB
--Alaris USB weecam
--MS USB joystick
--Digiview HR95, 19" monitor (200mhz bandwith, 180hz refresh at 800x600)
--most of this came from EPOX MVP3g-m/K6-3 system
--I use win98 with an "SE upgrade CD", and downloaded IE5.5
--You MUST use the Microsoft USB fix for VIA chipsets...(win98se)
--You MUST fix the problem with the DOS support with the Creative and some other sound cards
--You MUST fix the IRQ problems, even if there are no YELLOW CHECKs in Device mgr..some devices JUST DON'T PLAY WELL TOGETHER..learn to fix it!!!
--and you have to pay attention to what dirvers you use..
--My system is on 24x7, it is an answering machine and FAX machine, I can watch TV, use the USB camera, run NAPSTER in the background, and scan and print stuff...EVERYTHING WORKS ALL THE TIME...so I KNOW that the problems with the board are YOU FOLKS...
hope this helps
